My name is Eric Zinger and I am running for Greenburgh Town Council because I believe we need a fresh, independent perspective in our local government.

I know firsthand the problems that Greenburgh residents face in working with the Town and I believe we can do better. It is important that we have someone on the Town Council who has a financial background in order to help guide the Town in the new uncharted era of capped SALT deductions.  Now more than ever, we depend on our local governments to respond to the needs of the community.

We need more transparency in our local government. The town does too much of it’s business behind closed doors, consulting only a few regular insiders. Residents must be brought into the decision-making process early on and be properly informed about what their government is doing. I will regularly update my website and make sure residents are aware of town issues, and are given the opportunity to provide direct feedback. I want to rebuild trust between the Town and Edgemont community. I will work to restore that relationship so that if Edgemont petitions for a a vote to incorporate, they hopefully choose to stay.

Additionally, our local government needs to make smart financial decisions. I will monitor our fiscal spending to ensure that we are watching the bottom line with every decision that we make. I will also ensure that data driven analysis is used to generate the annual budget. That isn’t happening now. The current Town Council has increased spending, creating a new position of “legislative assistant“, a position that the Town Supervisor himself called “a big waste of taxpayer dollars”. I will fight to ensure every dollar is spent efficiently.

I believe that now is the time for change. There is a new wave of energy in the democratic party, and I want to be a part of that wave in Greenburgh. I believe we deserve more and better from our elected leaders and I am asking for your vote to make that happen. Vote Eric Zinger for Town Council on June 25th in the Democratic Primary Election!
